The character called Bunny, played by Kevin Dillon, carried a Remington style pump-shotgun. The few veterans I asked about this never heard of such a thing. The only shoulder weapons they ever used, or saw used were the M-14, M-16, B.A.R., and the 60-caliber, along with various bolt-action long-range rifles that snipers used.

Did some troops actually use shotguns?

The ****PRAYNOGRAPHER***will take this one on. Yes they did . I served two tours in Nam. My second go around I carried A sawed of shot gun along with a 45. A sixty caliber machine gun was my assigned weapon, but the shot gun was for close order combat. Sometime a spar of pellets was better then just one round. You could not fire the m60 at will.A m60 gunner did not want to give his position away. It would draw fire.In close combat the shot gun was just what the doctor ordered. I made it back to tell about. There was also a time when I used a Thompson sub machine gun. What a beauty.. Also not military issue. You had to be there, but I’m glad you were not. Peace Brother. Do a BOWL.
