Which Predator Blu Ray version has the best image quality?

I have read so much about the different
versions and releases that I am now
totally confused. I own the DVD version
and must admit, I hate it! Its just one big
glob of pixels. So is it worth upgrading to
a Blu-Ray version, and if so which release
and why?

Quoting from the review of the 2008 release at the link … “I wish I could say this highly anticipated Blu-ray edition was a slam dunk, but sadly, it’s just so-so. It’s clear the source just doesn’t have what it takes to deliver truly stunning high-def”. The Ultimate version didn’t fare any better, in fact the review at the second link amplifies on the issues why the Blu-ray disk doesn’t gain much on the many DVD versions, and claims the later version is actually worse than the 2008 release.

It appears this is one movie that isn’t really worth buying on Blu-ray … at least not unless you are a real fan and truly want the closest approximation of the original grainy, poor video quality film. In which case, the Ultimate version gets the nod, but mainly for better sound, not video.
